As a recent highlight, our firm successfully participated in a public bid and secured the representation of the National Superintendency of Banks in a high-profile trial. We were selected as one of the premier litigation firms in Ecuador to defend the National Superintendency of Banks in a case against the Isaias brothers, former owners of the largest bank in Ecuador (Filanbanco), who filed a 2 billion USD punitive damages lawsuit against Ecuador. This trial marked the highest monetary value case involving a public entity in Ecuador's history. Our firm's selection for this bid was a result of Daniel López Suárez's and Sebastián Mora's extensive experience and specialization in administrative litigation. The quantity and quality of administrative litigation cases handled by these two partners also played a crucial role in our firm's selection. Our Dispute Resolution department manages administrative law disputes and arbitration in various sectors including Public Procurement, Construction, Natural Resources, Infrastructure, Consultancy, Public Services, Punitive Damages, Oil, Agriculture, Telecommunications, and the Commercial Sector. We provide administrative and judicial support to local and foreign companies, with a focus on representing clients in trials against public sector entities. We occasionally have represented public entities in administrative litigation and dispute resolution processes.
